- Sunrise tours: the Luxor hot-air balloon, with pickup before sunrise, and the Mount Sinai night climb from Sharm El Sheikh or Dahab.
- Sunset tours: a Cairo felucca sail, the Al-Azhar Park evening, quad rides at Giza and Marsa Alam, and the Hurghada desert safari.
- The Aswan felucca is listed as an afternoon sail, not a sunset one, and the Sharm quad safari gives no time of day.
- Sunrise and sunset times vary by season; clock times on tour pages are approximate and the pickup time is confirmed at booking.
- A balloon flight cancelled for weather gets another date or a full refund.
On Egypt Day Tours the sunrise tours are the Luxor hot-air balloon and the Mount Sinai night climb, from Sharm El Sheikh or Dahab. The sunset tours are a Cairo felucca sail, the Al-Azhar Park evening, quad rides at Giza and Marsa Alam, and the Hurghada desert safari. The tour pages do not give sunrise or sunset times, which move through the year.
Sunrise
| Tour | Base | What the tour data says about the light | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot-air balloon over Luxor | Luxor | Pickup before sunrise from your hotel or Nile cruise, then a ferry to the launch site on the West Bank | About 45 minutes in the air in the included list, 45 minutes to one hour in the itinerary |
| Mount Sinai and St Catherine's (from Sharm El Sheikh) | Sharm El Sheikh | Night drive, then a climb that starts around 2 in the morning and reaches the summit for sunrise | Bedouin guide for the climb; the monastery follows, then optional lunch in Dahab |
| Mount Sinai and St Catherine's (from Dahab) | Dahab | Night climb for sunrise | The page gives no times and lists the monastery after the climb |
| Quad and camel safari | Sharm El Sheikh | The tour offers a sunrise or a sunset ride | The itinerary gives no time of day, so ask which one you are getting |
The balloon is the one tour built entirely around the dawn: pickup is before sunrise, a ferry crosses to the launch site on the West Bank, and the flight passes over the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and the Nile. The tour visits no sites on the ground. The full picture is in Luxor hot-air balloon: what the morning looks like.
The Sinai climb is a night in practice: the sunrise comes at the end of it. The monastery's own website advises a flashlight for the night march and warns of large temperature differences between day and night at that altitude. Mount Sinai at night compares the two departures, and the St Catherine's Monastery page covers the monastery.
Sunset
| Tour | Base | What the tour data says about the light | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private felucca ride | Cairo | A sail of about 2 hours on the Nile, in the morning or at sunset | Views of the Cairo skyline; only your group |
| Al-Azhar Park at sunset | Cairo | Evening: the hill-top park, then Islamic Cairo at dusk as the lights come on | About 3 hours; the park entrance fee is confirmed with the supplier |
| Quad bike at the Giza pyramids | Cairo | Offered as an afternoon or sunset ride | About 2 hours of riding; no start time is stated |
| Desert safari by jeep | Hurghada | Sunset and evening: camel ride, panoramic desert views and sunset, barbecue dinner, show, stargazing | A quad ride is an optional extra listed under Excluded |
| Sunset quad safari | Marsa Alam | About 22 km by quad, a Bedouin village and tea, a camel ride at sunset, then dinner and a show | Barbecue dinner included |
| Felucca sail in Aswan | Aswan | An afternoon sail around Elephantine Island to Kitchener's Island garden | The page says afternoon, not sunset; ask if sunset matters to you |
Several of these are evening tours in all but name, so the sunset is one part of a longer outing. After dark in Egypt lists the evening and night tours by city, and before you book a quad ride at the pyramids covers the Giza ride.
