The Grand Egyptian Museum

Egypt's museum of ancient Egyptian civilization beside the Giza pyramids, home of the Tutankhamun Galleries, which opened its doors on November 1, 2025.

About Grand Egyptian Museum

The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is Egypt's museum of ancient Egyptian civilization, at El Remayah Square on the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road near the Pyramids of Giza. The museum describes itself as the largest in the world dedicated to ancient Egyptian civilization, with collections from prehistory to the end of the Greek and Roman periods.

It holds the Tutankhamun Galleries, including the king's golden burial mask, which were formerly shown at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir. Standard admission covers the Tutankhamun Galleries, the Main Galleries, the Grand Hall with its statue of Ramesses II, the Grand Stairs, Khufu's Boats Museum and the gardens.
