- The sunset quad safari covers about 22 km of desert between the mountains, with Bedouin tea, a camel ride and a barbecue dinner.
- Karnak is 355 km from your hotel, about 4 h 11 min without traffic, on our Luxor day by road.
- The Cairo day flies from Hurghada, 281 km from your hotel, and the flights are not included in the tour price.
Marsa Alam's days are mostly at sea: a boat from Port Ghalib to the reefs and the lagoon of Marsa Mubarak, or a day at Samadai, where spinner dolphins rest. On land there is a quad ride through the desert mountains at sunset, and the town is a base for long days to Luxor by road and Cairo by plane. Below, each one is set out with what the day involves and the tour that runs it.
On the sea
Snorkel the Marsa Mubarak lagoon from Port Ghalib
Port Ghalib is a waterfront resort community on 18 km of shoreline; its marina, open since 2002, is 4 km south of Marsa Alam International Airport and is an official port of entry to Egypt. Our snorkeling day from Port Ghalib stops first at the reefs of Marsa El Shone, then at Marsa Mubarak, a protected lagoon where dugongs and sea turtles may be seen if you are lucky. Snorkeling means swimming at the surface with a mask, a breathing tube and fins; mask and fins are included, with lunch on board, mineral water and soft drinks, and a small speedboat (Zodiac) to a nearby lagoon. The itinerary lists two stops while the included list says 1 to 2 snorkeling stops, so ask when you book. Sea turtles are monitored on this coast too: in June 2025 new researchers of the Red Sea protectorates trained in monitoring them at Marsa Shona in Marsa Alam, which the ministry counts among the most prominent dive sites in the Red Sea. The drive from Port Ghalib back to your hotel is 65 km, about 49 min without traffic. See the Port Ghalib and Marsa Mubarak page.
Snorkel near the spinner dolphins of Samadai
Samadai, also called Dolphin House, is a protected lagoon where spinner dolphins rest, and visits follow the reserve's rules. The Samadai trip is a full day on a shared boat with private transfers, with snorkeling gear and lunch on board included. Samadai has visitor limits, so the reserve fee and the days allowed are confirmed with your quote; the tour is new on this site. The Giftun, Tiran or Port Ghalib guide compares the sea days of the three resorts.
In the desert
Ride a quad between the mountains
The sunset quad safari collects you at your hotel, gives you a short test drive at the quad station, then rides approximately 22 km of desert between the mountains of Marsa Alam. The listing does not say whether that distance is one way or the whole ride. The quad fees and a guide are included.
Drink tea in a Bedouin village
Midway, the safari stops at a Bedouin village for traditional tea and an introduction to the customs of the desert community.
Ride a camel at sunset, then dinner and a show
The evening ends with a camel ride at sunset, a barbecue dinner with mineral water and soft drinks, and a folkloric show; the show is in the itinerary but not in the included list.
