In short
  • All tours are private for your group's car and guide.
  • 56 tours are private from start to finish: just your group.
  • On 17 tours the activity itself, a boat, a balloon, a show, a dinner cruise or a safari, is shared with other guests.
  • Prices are per person, for 2 or more people.
  • Where the tour allows, a stop can be skipped or the order changed if you ask before booking.

On every tour on Egypt Day Tours, a site dedicated to day tours in Egypt, "private" means the car and the guide are for your group only. On 56 tours the whole day is private, just your group. On 17 tours the activity itself, such as a boat, a balloon, a show, a dinner cruise or a safari, is shared with other guests, while transfers and guide stay private.

Two kinds of private

The tours state their type in one of two ways:

Private describes your car, your guide and your program. The temples and museums you visit stay open to other visitors as usual.

What stays private on every tour

Your car and your guide. 44 tours list an English-speaking Egyptologist guide, a guide trained in ancient Egyptian history; the others list an English-speaking guide or a tour leader. On the 17 tours with a shared activity, the transfers between your hotel and the activity and your guide or tour leader stay with your group only.

If you want a guide and nothing else, Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Alexandria also have a guide-only booking: a licensed guide of your own for the sites and hours you choose, in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French or Italian, with a car and the entrance fees added on request. See a guide only in Cairo; it has no published price, and the price comes with the quote.

What you can change

A stop can be skipped or the order changed where the tour allows: ask before booking and you are told what is possible. 5 tours have a shopping stop that can be skipped, and going inside the Great Pyramid is an optional extra on 12 tours.

Group size and price

Prices are per person, for 2 or more people. 8 tours show a "from" price on their page and 24 tours an approximate price taken from similar tours on the market, confirmed with the quote; the others are priced on request, and the reply to a request gives the price for your date. To ask about your group, use the form on the tour page or the contact page; how to book an Egypt day tour walks through the steps.
