Abu Simbel above Lake Nasser
In short
  • Tours start from 8 bases; Cairo & Giza has 27 tours, Luxor and Aswan 10 tours each, and the Red Sea resorts 21 tours between them.
  • Some tours repeat stops: the Luxor both-banks tour and the East Bank tour both visit Karnak and Luxor Temple.
  • Abu Simbel is 283.4 km from an Aswan hotel, about 3 h 26 min without traffic; the Nubian Museum is 2.6 km away, about 3 min without traffic.
  • A stop can be skipped or the order changed where the tour allows, if you ask before booking.
  • Domestic flights are never part of a tour price, including on the 7 tours that fly for the day.

Plan by base. Every tour on egyptdaytours.net starts and ends at your hotel, so list the cities where you will sleep, choose the tours that start there, and check that no two repeat the same stops. Then mix long drives with short days, and send the date of each tour with your request; pickup times are confirmed when you book.

Start with your bases

Egypt Day Tours is a site dedicated to day tours in Egypt: 73 day tours from 8 bases, and no hotel bookings, cruises or multi-day packages. Travel between cities and your hotel stays are yours to arrange; each tour picks you up at the hotel where you are staying on its date. Cairo & Giza has 27 tours, Luxor and Aswan 10 each, Sharm El Sheikh 7, Hurghada 6, Alexandria and Marsa Alam 5 each, and Dahab 3. What each base offers is in Egypt day tours by city.

Avoid tours that repeat the same stops

Several tours share stops. The table groups the tours from the same base that share a stop, and some tours from other bases that reach the same sites. Book one tour from each row, or ask before booking whether the shared stop can be skipped: a stop can be skipped or the order changed where the tour allows.

Mix long drives with short days

The drive to the first stop shows how much of the day a tour takes (map routing, without traffic).

TourFromFirst drive
Luxor in a dayMarsa Alam355 km to Karnak, about 4 h 11 min without traffic
Abu Simbel templesAswan283.4 km, about 3 h 26 min without traffic
Mount Sinai and St Catherine's MonasterySharm El Sheikh215.6 km to Mount Sinai, about 3 h 10 min without traffic
Cairo and the pyramidsAlexandria214.5 km to the Giza pyramids, about 2 h 26 min without traffic
Dendera and AbydosLuxor171.2 km to Abydos, about 2 h 13 min without traffic
Luxor East BankLuxor3 km to Karnak, about 4 min without traffic
Nubian MuseumAswan2.6 km, about 3 min without traffic

Put a short day or an evening tour next to a long one. The tour pages give each tour's length: the East Bank tour is a morning, back after lunch, while the Karnak and Philae sound and light shows, the pyramids sound and light show with dinner, the Maxim dinner cruise and the Tanoura show night in Cairo are evening tours. In Cairo, half days such as the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir or Coptic Cairo, each about 4 hours, also sit well next to a long day. All Luxor and Aswan tours are on the Luxor and Aswan pages.

Crossing regions in a day

Some tours cross regions and bring you back the same day. 7 tours travel by plane: Cairo in a day from each Red Sea resort and from Luxor, and Luxor in a day from Sharm El Sheikh or Cairo. Domestic flights are never part of the tour price; how a day trip by plane works explains the rest. By road, Luxor is a day from Aswan, Marsa Alam or Hurghada (Luxor in a day from Hurghada), Cairo a day from Alexandria, and Alexandria a day from Cairo (Alexandria in a day from Cairo). If your trip also has nights in Cairo, the Cairo tours reach the pyramids without a flight; the sea and desert days are on the Red Sea page.

Book each day

A request gives the date, the number of people and your contact details, and can come from the form on the tour page, the contact page, WhatsApp or phone. The reply gives the price for that date and the plan for the day; you confirm, and the pickup is booked. No payment is taken with the request; each booking is confirmed with a 25% deposit paid online, by card or PayPal, and the rest is paid in cash on the day of the tour. The pickup time is confirmed when you book, because traffic and the hotel's location change it.

The date of a tour can be changed free of charge up to 24 hours before, subject to availability, and cancellation is free up to 24 hours before the tour starts; less than 24 hours before, or a no-show, there is no refund. On the days by plane, the flights follow the airline's own rules. Questions about a whole plan go through the contact page.
